Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising collaboration that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Uncovered
According to the authorized release, "A mysterious meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of banned rituals and fearsome changes reverberate through the shadows." The plot presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine group.
The adventure centers on "peculiar tests and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Changes
The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Material
Players who accomplish the mission will receive an unique katana together with multiple items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Addition
This patch also adds the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Collaborations
This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that unmistakably referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
