Just as bad weather hit the north-west the previous evening, City swept the visitors aside at the Etihad. It was a convincing 3-0 win for their manager's side due to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that firmly established their title credentials as they reinforced their standing at the top of the table.

Back-to-Back Defeats for United

This scoreline marked successive Women's Super League defeats for Skinner's side for the first time since May 2024, putting them a sizable gap off the table toppers with their title hopes in serious doubt.

Manchester United's ability to manage league and European soccer with a limited team has been a widely debated subject since they secured entry to the European competition.
